Lessons In Layering

layering a fur vest and army jacketI have been wanting a winter version of my Club Monaco Army jacket I grabbed last spring. But most of the versions that have the luxe fur (or good faux fur) lining were a bit out of my price range especially when I already have an army jacket.

winter army jacketAfter I saw this pin, I realized I didn’t really need to go out and buy more of the same thing, but just layer the items I already had; a faux fur vest under my army jacket. Granted I would only do this on a relatively mild winter day, but it gives the look of a fur-lined coat.

winter army jacketThis look will also be great for about March when it is still cold in the morning but you don’t want to wear full on winter clothing anymore. And I can attest that it was warm. I am always surprised how warm I am with just a faux fur vest really.

Do you layer up some of your favourite spring items to make them winter worthy?

Love the layers!! I always have a hard time wearing my fur vest under my coats, it makes me feel so puffy but it is definitely warm! Such a cute hat you've got!

Happy Friday!

PS - Did you buy that Anthro jacket yet?! I can't wait for you to post pictures of it!

Generally I would totally agree with you re: layering with a faux fur vest, but this jacket was super light and had no lining so it worked. And I kept the sweater underneather light.

I haven't been back to Anthro yet to check out the jacket as they said it would be a few weeks before they got it in - need to go check it out!!

So cute! I think winter outfits are really fun to put together, and I LOVE adding a pop of color with the hat!

Thanks so much! I love the raspberry colour with so many things, but the olive green goes really well.
