Blue + Red = Purple

jcrew plaidHappy NEW YEAR!

This outfit features a few of my Boxing Day purchases. It was kinda fun forgoing Christmas presents in exchange for shopping on Boxing Day and snagging about a thousand dollars worth of clothing for a few hundred bucks!

That said this might be the last time you see these shoes again until spring. I so don’t want to wreak the beautiful blue suede on snowy salt infested Toronto winter streets.

One of my style resolutions for 2013 is to wear more pants. Not jeans, but pants. Trousers. Something I would never have said back in my going to the office days, but I feel like my wardrobe has kinda swung too far back towards my highschool wardrobe of all denim all the time.

While the pants above are a waxed denim, they have a more upscale, leathery look so for now they will work to bridge the gap between denim & pants.

Can you tell that I am on a plaid kick? I picked up this plaid top in the JCREW sale section plus got an extra 50% off shopping Boxing Day and it is so fun. Plus because it is so warm you don’t need to add a sweater layer. Inside at least.

This leads to another one of my style resolutions for 2013. Infuse more classic button downs into my wardrobe. I have too many of a certain boho style blouse (a la Tucker) and could really use a classic white blouse. I am waiting for a 40% off sale to snag this from GAP.

That Gap boyfriend shirt has been on my list forever! I have a white button up but always feel like a waitress when I wear it.

I love the look of a simple jeans and white shirt combo. The key would to A. not to wear it with black pants (too waitressy) and b. accessorize. A Chunky necklace, roll up the sleeves and you won't look like you need an apron!
