Aztec, Ikat and Navajo OH MY!

Prints have been huge. Have I said that before? But as we are looking towards fall I am more fond of more angular print and pattern and less of florals and smooth pattern.

Prints developed by civilizations past like Aztec, Mayan and Navajo are all popping up on blanket sweaters and boots to take a boho summer feel through the fall. Each has a distinctive pattern but are built on the use of repeating geometric shapes. Ikat tends to keep the geometric shapes but instead of woven it is a form of dying the fabric.

1. Coffee Connoisseur Cardigan

2. House of Harlow 1960 – Aztec Bangle with White Leather

3. PAUL & JOE SISTER Patterned wool-blend hooded poncho

4. Kookai Ikat Print Short

5. TOPSHOP Pastel Texture Pinafore Dress

6. BB Dakota BB Dakota Maya Lariat Cardigan

Personally I find all these prints have sort of an indian summer kinda vibe. Even the Ikat print shorts above have a transitional feel with their deep colours.

What do you think? Are these prints on your watch list for the summer to fall transition?

I'm a definitely a print lover, but own mostly dots, stripes and florals. I definitely have these tribal prints on my radar for Fall. I don't see much in stores right now, but I'm hoping more will come out soon with the Fall merchandise. Really love that Topshop dress. . .just added to my wish list! :) Cheers from a fellow Torontonian!

I have a sweater coat from last year that has a similar print and I lived in it after the birth of my son. Something about these patterns is just warm and cozy. Not that I will abandon stripes or floral but these will be added to the mix.
