What to pack for a Tropical Beach Vacation

It is that time of year when my mind starts to wander to a warmer tropical destination. So many places are at the top of my must visit list. Hawaii, Mallorca, Greece. But with work commitments and other travel snags I won’t be going anywhere until after everyone completes their taxes. But a girl can dream. And plan her imaginary packing list right? If you are leaving tomorrow this is what to pack for a tropical beach vacation.

What to pack for a Tropical Beach Vacation

White Cotton Dress – Dresses and bathing suits form the back bone of my tropical beach wardrobe. I tend to pack 4 or 5 dresses that I can wear to dinner. Some I repurpose as a beach coverup. This dress also comes in black.

Wide brim hat – this is a must for me. If you are wondering how you pack something this big check out this post. Or just carry it on with you. But seriously you won’t go back if you use the packing trick. I find that a wide brim hat absolutely saves me from the scorching sun.

Graphic Tee – now I don’t pack as many tshirts as if I was doing a city break vacation. But I still find they come in handy. If you are off doing an excursion, or you just get sick of dresses and for the plane ride home. A few extra tshirts don’t take up too much space either.

Swim suit – If there is one thing I would pack loads of is swimsuits. I would pack at least 3. I find I will switch them out instead of having to struggle through pulling on the wet one again if I head back to the room for any reason. Plus things just dry out slower in the humidity.

Dome hoops – basic gold jewelry is my go to in my regular life. It is an easy staple for vacation life too. I do love a big statement earring on vacation though. I tend not to bring anything I would be sad losing on vacation.

Bayia Bag – I love the look of this bag. Is it practical for a beach vacation? It depends where you are going. If you are heading to an all inclusive, it is probably to purse like. If you are doing more of a city beach vacation say like Mallorca or Greece I would totally pack it.

Graphic tee – yes another graphic tee. Because I wanted something cute to go with that skirt. And like I said really can’t have too many. I would pack 4 unless you know you will be off doing all sorts of sporty type adventures.

Bucket bag – this bag is more versatile for all sorts of beach vacations. Plus the white and tan leather just screams hot weather to me.

Denim shorts – I usually pack one, maybe two pairs of shorts. They are more for incase I want to do something that a dress doesn’t work for.

Braided sandals – I used to pack heels but now I just look for interesting flat sandals. It means I have more versatility as flats can go from the pool to dinner if they look good. I love the look of this braided leather pair.

Linen pants – In the past few years I have really jumped on the beach pants wagon. A great floaty pair of linen pants looks great for dinner. But they also can just be thrown over your bathing suit during the day.

Puffy Twist Sandal – I love the look of these sandals! They bring together two trends I am loving. The twist detail and the puff detail. In a neutral colour or black and these are just a classic staple. I usually pack two or three pairs of sandals.

Wrap Midi skirt – So instead of just picking dresses I also picked up this skirt which is gorgeous! And just screams fun tropical vacay doesn’t it?! Pair it with a tee or tank for dinner or just throw it over your bathing suit.

Color block bathing suit – I love the color blocking on this swimsuit. But I also love the high neck and back. So many bathing suits are super low cut. It is nice to have options.

Tshirt dress – I live in these types of tshirt dresses in the summer. They are perfect for throwing over your bathing suit and heading to the pool. But really with the right accessories they are the perfect laid back chic vibe.

Sunglasses – just like a wide brim hat is a must so is a pair of sunglasses. These are my favourite cheap pair.

Beach tote – I have said this before but this is my favourite beach tote. I reviewed it here. It is just the right size to carry everything and looks good doing it.

Jean Jacket – Ok this might be something you won’t use much. But I will never forget going to cabo and not having a light sweater or jean jacket to throw on at night. If you are going somewhere more humid (like the Caribbean) you might not need anything. But if you are going to a more desert area pack the jacket.

Veja sneakers – I always wear my sneakers as my travel shoes. But they also come in handy for any excursions you might go on. However one caveat. You might want to bring a pair you don’t mind getting dirty or wrecked as some excursions are rough on your sneaks.

Plane outfit – So the button down and jeans would be my plane outfit. The button front shirt you can roll up the sleeves or can layer a sweater over from your carry on while on the plane. Jeans because I am just not one of those people that wears summer clothes to go home to a colder country. Plus the plane is cold. So many people suffer on a cold plane to wear their cute vacay clothes.

So obviously you would also need toiletries, an ereader, your underwear and your personal item. But all in all this is what to pack for a tropical beach vacation. What would you pack?
