Halloween Costumes from your Closet

I did a post similar to this last year and it is already being found through Google which means many of you are already thinking about what you are going to be for Halloween. Personally I love costumes that can be created straight out of your closet.

In fact you can take current trends and use these items that you just picked up for fall and turn them into a fun Halloween look.

Costume Details:

I would be lying if I didn’t saw strip away the beanie and the mask and the fake bag of money and you have my daily outfit. Which actually makes it the perfect Halloween costume because it will not feel too costumey. Make sure the stripe tee you use is black not blue as you are supposed to look like a criminal not someone going boating in Venice.

greaser costumeCostume Details:

The black leather biker jacket is a huge trend right now but realistically it is a classic that has stood the test of time. If you have one in your closet pair it with some deep blue jeans turned up only a little. Layer under a muscle tee or a regular tee with the cuffs turned up with a pack of smokes tucked in there.

Getting the hair right is integral to this costume so stock up on gel and make sure to carry around a comb.

librarian costume, nancy drew costume

Costume Details:

The pleated skirt is having a huge moment right now. And I love that girls are styling it in a way that feels young and fresh not dowdy and old fashioned. BUT if you play up the old timey feel and pair the pleated skirt with a blouse with throw back details like a high ruffle collar, tie collar or even a sweet rounded collar, layer over a cardigan and you have a librarian look. Or even Nancy Drew (the original one from the  50s).

grunge costumeCostume Details:

It is hard to believe that I am actually suggesting someone dress up as Grunge considering this is the way that we all dressed in about 1993 when I started High school. Still the 90s are HUGE right now and this makes it super easy to find all the essential items to put together a grunge look. Boyfriend jeans, cheeky tee, plaid shirt layered over (unbuttoned) or tied around the waist. Lace up boots, extra points if they are Doc Martens.

Watch tomorrow for more Halloween Outfit Ideas! And yes I get dressed up.

This is genius! I have plenty of plaid in my closet, so grudge might be the way to go. I also have a cheap afro wig and a vintage 70s dress, so I might go disco. But, both outfits will be free!
