My kids wardrobes are always cycling. Older too small sizes out with newer bigger sizes into the closet. After last summer I had to clear out most of my daughters bathing suits. She will be turning 10 which means she is smack dab into tween territory. I am not one for making young girls appear to be older so I tend to prefer one pieces or sportier two pieces for tween girls. At this time of year I am looking forward to our spring vacation and I found 7 super cute bathing suits for tween girls.

- Maddison Swimsuit – loving this suit with the ruffle detail and the zig zag stripe. I have bought this brand of swim suits before and I know I can get a couple of seasons out of them.
- One piece swim suit with cutouts – I love this bathing suit for tween girls. Leave the teeny bikinis to the twenty somethings. This swimsuit looks more grown up without being too grown up.
- Monica Tankini – Love the boho look of this tankini set!
- Mariposa cross body bag – This bag is so cute! But if I am being honest it is more than I would spend on my tween. I would more likely find something similar at H&M or Zara for a quarter of the price.
- Stelare sandal – my daughter is already into small womens shoes even though she is still in kids clothing. Kids at this age aren’t likely to be into cutesy cartoon princesses any longer but still love rainbow colours. This sandal is kids but similar styles come in womens.
- Simone Jumpsuit – I wanted to add some summery stuff that you could wear over a bathing suit to lunch. Usually that would mean a tshirt dress of some sort but how cute is this jumpsuit?!
- One piece in tie dye – Love the dainty straps on this and the purple base which is such a tween colour isn’t it?!
- Cross back swimsuit in Rainbow – I love the geometric rainbow print of this swimsuit. I have bought from this brand before and their swimsuits will hold up really well. We have one that is going on it’s third season. Their sizing is also more generous than others.
- Lula Laser cut frill swimsuit – I included this on my list because my tween has told me time and again that she want this particular swimsuit. She would probably want it even more in purple.
- Surf Bikini set – I love the sporty vibe of this bikini set. Perfect for young girls that you don’t want wearing a “sexy” bikini before their time.
Hopefully from this roundup you can see these bathing suits are perfect for young girls that aren’t grown yet but aren’t little girls anymore. They don’t want to dress as a 5 year old but also aren’t ready to dress like a 20 something. I find too many brands lump tweens in with young adults and I want to make sure that my daughter doesn’t grow up too fast just because a retailer is too lazy to make clothes that are age appropriate.
I am against the whole over sexualiztion of young girls. It might be easy to just say oh they are little they can pull off anything but when you think about it some of these suits are cut with parts, breasts in particular, that these girls haven’t developed yet. So the teeny triangle bikini that your tween is wearing is more about mimicing women. But to each his own.
I like that all these bathing suits allow tween girls to run and play in fun colours and prints they will want to wear.
