5 ways to wear a bright blue coat

Last Updated on October 6, 2023 by Jane

I find winter, especially after the Holiday season, can be extra dreary. Most people suffer through in basic black coats. Black is great. It is easy to style and goes with everything. But it also is safe. And kinda boring especially if everyone looks the same in a sea of black coats. Colour can be intimidating if you aren’t used to wearing it. I thought I would share 5 ways to wear a bright blue coat.

When in doubt you can always pair colour with black. Black goes with everything. Let the bright blue speak for itself with chic black accessories and black jeans. (Original post here)

Blue and Grey is another safe combination. I have shown it here with a grey turtleneck but it would work great with a big grey scarf and grey hat. Grey is a softer look that then black and blue combination.

Green might not be your first choice when accessorizing but green and blue go well together because they are in the same colour family. They are close on the rainbow so while they might not match they go.

I am going to start this off saying I am not a fan of bright blue and red together. Navy or denim and red. YES. But bright cobalt blue not so much. Feels a bit to primary to me. But this plaid scarf works because the red is broken up with the white base and the same blue is part of the plaid.

This is my favourite combination of the whole lot! Who know that bright blue and browns, particularly a rusty brown would look so good! Just goes to show that you should just switch things up to see what works. The scarf here again had a bit of blue in the check. That is usually a good trick to find patterns that work with the colour you are working with. If the pattern has your main colour (like this bright blue) even if it is a small line, it will work as an accent. (Original post here)

Hopefully this post has given you ideas on how to wear bright blue!
