What to Pack for Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head Island is found in South Carolina close to the Georgia border. The island is known for fantastic beaches and its many golf courses. When I was young we visited HHI and it has always stuck in my head as one of those beautiful places that you can’t believe are in the USA. We decided to have our first post covid road trip end up in Hilton Head. Based on what we used and didn’t and what we should have included this is what to pack for Hilton Head Island.

What to Pack for Hilton Head Island

Vista Hat – a big hat is a must as there is loads of hot sun, which is why we went there but the last thing you want is heat stroke. It was however pretty windy on the beach so a hat with a string to keep it from flying away is a must.

Sunglasses – these are my favourite cheap designer dupe sunglasses. The kind that you can take on vacay and if you lose them in the ocean it isn’t the end of the world.

Destination Botanical Swim – We did quite a bit of swimming. We kept cycling from the ocean to the pool and back again. One thing I would suggest is to pack at least two swim suits and sun shirts. I found nothing really drys out that quickly so having options saves you from having to put on wet bathing suits or swim trunks.

Zoe Dress (reviewed here) – I love to dress up for dinner on vacation. It is such a treat to go out regularly and make an event of it. I would say though that Hilton Head is pretty casual. Men are wearing golf shirts and shorts for the most part. There is definitely a more low key vibe.

Somerset maxi dress – I packed way too many dresses for our road trip but I did wear one every night in Hilton Head. I love the print and colour combination in this one.

Peace tee – I have a different tee from this brand and it is one of my favourites. Pricey but good quality.

Black linen pants – I wish I had of packed a pair of wide leg linen pants. They would have fit in well with the vibe of the island. And it is a dressy but comfortable alternative to dresses.

Red cross body – I love the pop of colour this bag would bring to an outfit. It is big enough to carry the essentials, even on sightseeing days.

Stripe beach bag – Our beach bag made quite a few trips from the room to the ocean, to the pool and back again. It must be big enough for towels, dive rings and books. Plus extra perk this one is cute.

EVA sandals – My favourite pool or beach sandals. These are so cushy and supportive. Great to wear when your feet are feeling sore.

Slub Boxy Tee – These are my favourite t-shirts. I packed a few so that I had them for travel days and sightseeing days.

Easy Shorts (reviewed here) – I packed my pair of these shorts. They are perfect for sightseeing days. More polished than cut offs and in a pinch can work for a casual dinner.

Towel – whenever I go somewhere warm, whether it is an all inclsuive holiday or the cottage I like to pack our own towels. Especially if I need to tell our lounge chairs from a sea of others.

Earrings – These are my favourite earrings right now. They work with everything and are a good size without being too large.

Woven Sandals – Because the EVA sandals aren’t really something to wear with a dress for dinner. I love that the woven slides expand with your foot as you break them in. I feel like these sandals would go with everything here!
