Free People Patricia Packable Puffer Review

Living in a country with four seasons means that you have coats for all types of weather. Winter lingers into spring. Even though it seems like wearing trench coats all the time is the perfect spring option they are often not enough especially in early spring. While my long down puffer is put away at this time of year a packable puffer is a lighter option for spring chill. The Free People Patricia Packable Puffer Review shares why I like this packable puffer more than others I have tried.

Free People Patricia Packable Puffer Review

The Patricia Packable Poncho puffer is an oversized quilted puffer. It has a hood and cinchable waist. Size wise I am in the large but it is quite large. Especially in the shoulders area. I could have easily sized down to a medium.

However the idea of this style is that it is oversized and you cinch the waist to keep it defined. Also with the large I can easily layer chunky knits underneath extending the season through which this coat is warm enough. I would say if you aren’t layering thick knits or fleece size down.

At the neck the coat is lined with a soft brushed cotton. This fabric also lines the pockets. I always feel that pockets with soft lining are so superior to unlined pockets. If you ever have to stuff your hands deep into your pockets because you forgot your mittens you know what I mean. And these pockets are easy to use. Which sounds silly but some jackets have pockets in awkward places making them hard to use. These are deep pockets that are placed where you naturally place your hands.

The two things that are a bit awkward on this coat are the extra long sleeves. If you are tall and sleeves are never long enough you should try this coat.

The zipper is also something that is a bit finicky. It is plastic not metal and I think that is the issue. I find it can be a bit sticky to start zipping.

This puffer is super lightweight. A good option for travel. It packs down upon itself. It is water resistant not water proof. But this is typical of a puffer style coat. The filling is prima loft which is a vegan down alterative. The description on this coat says that it is warmer fill. I would only say this is a warm winter coat if you live somewhere where the winter isn’t super cold and snowy this would be fine. However, I personally would not want to rely on this coat in January in Canada in the middle of a polar vortex. But for a 5 degree Celsius day this jacket is great.

Overall I am really happy with this coat. It is great for layering. It looks sporty but still feminine. Most of the finishes help elevate the coat. I like the length. Basically this coat is a winner.
