Work Layers

Dressing for September is full of contradictions. Even within the same day. You might need warm layers in the morning and no layers by late afternoon.

I like the whole sleeveless coat idea for a work layer instead of a cardigan or something shapeless. This way you have more structure and still look professional.

After a hot back to school week I think we are heading into a week of more transition temperatures. This means we will for sure need jackets for the mornings! I find that I don’t overheat as much with wearing a sleeveless jacket.

work layers, jcrew crop trousers

I picked up these Sailor pant ankle crop trousers from JCREW during one of their promotions. Ankle crop trousers makes my life so much easier through the winter (no hemlines dragging through snow) and they look great with pumps or flats alike (sans socks of course!).

The fit of the Sailor pant is close to the Campbell Capri which JCREW doesn’t make anymore, may they rest in peace. But the leg has more volume in that there is a slight flare instead of being straight. The fabric is the lovely stretch wool. Personally I still like my Campbell capris first as I think the slimmer straight leg is more flattering but these are good too.
