Why I am diggin this loafer trend

I really tried to love ballet flats. I did. In fact I still love the look of them but I know they don’t work for my feet.

You see I have wide feet. Not big feet just wide feet. And ballet flats are cut low, you tend to see what they call toe cleavage. And no matter what I tried ballet flats would cut across the bone of my big toe in the most painful way.

I tried different brands but I always got the same result. I would try to break them in, stretch them out or buy a half-size up. Still it was the way they were cut.

Fast forward 2 or 3 years to today. I have consigned most of the ballet flats I own and now we have a loafer trend.

You can see in the picture above that loafers on the other hand suit my feet so much better. They encompass the foot. And these Jeffrey Campbell ones fit amazing, they might as well have been made for my feet.

Now I have seen bloggers wearing everything from animal print loafers or studded loafers to the orignal Bass penny loafers. Cousin to the loafer, the boat shoe is even becoming more popular.

And I am on board, fully. I am going to snap up as many as I can while I can because these trends come and go. But this trend suits me, suits my feet and makes me happy.

What is your go to flat shoe?
