What I am buying and returning in August 2020

I have been kind of underwhelmed by what is available from retail at the moment. I am ready to move onto fall but there is little to choose from yet. The Nordstrom sale in Canada was also super disappointing. Although nothing Canadians haven’t been complaining about for decades. US sales are always better. US retailers don’t seem to offer the same discounts or wide range of sale items north of the border. Same with Nordstrom. For a company that prides themselves on customer service the Anniversary sale in Canada was a let down. Still I have found somethings and returned somethings. See what has made its way into my closet.

What I am buying and returning August 2020

  1. Pintuck flutter sleeve top – this summer I have been picking up all the white blouses. But not just boring regular button downs. I like this style because I don’t have to worry about buttons pulling across the bust. HIT.
  2. Pop over white top – this is another white top that I have kept. This summer seems to have been the summer I have been stocking up on these types of blousy tops. I got a bunch at H&M earlier in the summer. This one is a popover style which tends to be more generous across the chest. HIT.
  3. Oversized Gingham scarf – This is the time of year my mind starts to wander to fall knits and scarves. This is on sale and I thought it would look great with my camel coats. Ordered.
  4. Rib Knit Sweater – I said my mind has wandered to knits! I ordered this thinking it would be a cool slouchy style but it just ended up looking too big. Like I had ordered the wrong size. Size down if you are going to try it. Returned.
  5. Oversized sunglasses – I now own these sunglasses in three colours. Tortoise, Red and black. I think the black might be my faves. But for the price you can have them all. HIT.
  6. Wool Turtleneck sweater – This was another oversized sweater that just ended up looking too large. Size down on this one as well. I was closer to keeping this sweater but after trying it on a few times I admitted it wasn’t how I wanted it to look. Returned.
  7. Golden brown mini stripe tee – This is one of my fave tees I have bought this summer. I love the colour. Neutral stripes instead of the classic blue and white seem to be having a moment. Also loving this option in long sleeves. HIT.
  8. Boat Neck Stripe top – Another stripe but you don’t usually see green stripes! I like this but I wish it was a bit looser, or more aline as opposed to straight cut would have helped. Also slightly shorter. But it is a nice weight and looks good with everything. HITish.

Other things I have saved and keep looking at include this coat, this sweater (or this one) and this vest. I am very much looking to fall. Are you?
