Velvet Pants

If there is one pair of trousers that pop up every year around this time it is velvet pants. Ranging in styles from traditional denim cuts in soft velvet to more tailored trousers velvet pants are a great way to up your style quoitent when dressing for the Holidays.

But unlike dressing in Christmas colours a pair of rich velvet pants will have longer staying power in your wardrobe. In fact velvet is warm enough to wear on the coldest wintery days. And even if you are wearing jean styles you can get away with wearing velvet on days other than Friday.

Shop the Velvet Pants

  1. ‘Janis’ Velvet High Rise Flare Jeans
  2. Bella Velvet Kick Flare Jeans (love how wide the flare is on these)
  3. Rocket High Rise Skinny Jeans
  4. Velvet Ankle Pants (love this style – these are very flattering and would be a great work option)
  5. Velvet side-zip pull-on leggings (these are the least expensive of the bunch and they come in a range of colours)
  6. Citizens of Humanity Fleetwood Velvet Flare Jeans

Pair these pants with some plaid maybe a sparkly heel and you have a great Holiday look. What I like about it most is that it is pants and I always feel more comfortable in pants over a dress or skirt. Especially the denim cut styles which look more dressed up than jeans but just as comfortable and familiar.

I remember picking up a pair from the Gap in the early 2000’s but they were very different than the super skinny styles they have right now. That is why I am more partial the the Ann Taylor version. I also love the look of these cord flares but I find that cords have a more casual vibe.

What do you think? Are you into velvet pants for the Holidays? And beyond?
