Vegamour GRO Collection Review

Vegamour sent me a number of products from their GRO Collection to try. This post reviews complementary product but is not a paid post. All opinions in the Vegamour GRO Collection Review are my own.

Vegamour is one of those companies that I regularly see pop up on my socials feed. I was intrigued to try them more to see if their products reinforced hair health as opposed to some miracle hair growth product.

I have fine hair but quite a lot of it, especially in the mid to back of my head. My hair is thinner at the temples but not receding. I am not sure if this is because of the way I sleep or my age but to be fair my hair has always been a bit wispy there.

I am also in the process of growing out my grey. Dying my hair darker close to my original natural colour has become almost impossible to keep up. I am facing roots after two weeks because my hair grows pretty fast. Which means I have about one good week where my dyed hair looks really good. My hair is resistant to colour. And because the top of my head is quite white the roots feel like they sand out so stark against the brunette colour. I decided last September would be my last colour for my brother in laws wedding. I am now 7 months into my grow out.

So what does that have to do with Vegamour? I was intrigued to try anything that would support my grow out phase as it can take up to two years to fully transition. So when the brand reached out I agreed to try the products.

Vegamour GRO Collection Review

GRO Revitalizing Shampoo & Conditioner

The Gro Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner promises to set the foundation for fuller healthier looking hair. Strengthens hair to reduce breakage, softens and adds shine.

Ingredients include Karmatin which is a vegan keratin alternative, marula oil, baobab oil, murumuru butter among others.

I really like how this shampoo and conditioner makes my hair feel. It cleaned my scalp well, made my hair feel moisturized and healthier after just one wash. The first time I tried this shampoo was before my latest chop. I had gone about 4 months of growing out my hair so it was in need of support. This shampoo and conditioner set made me feel like I didn’t desperately need a haircut. Which if you are trying to grow your hair is very helpful. You want your shampoo and conditioner to be supportive not part of the problem.

The shampoo and conditioner doesn’t have any added colours. The shampoo is clear and the conditioner is white. Is it weird that that didn’t feel normal? I feel like that highlights how used to dyes we are in our shampoos and conditioners!

The conditioner is quite thick. I would say a little goes a long way. Especially if you have fine hair that is easily weighed down. Vegamour says to use a quarter size of the shampoo and conditioner. I definitely used less than a quarter size of the conditioner and felt well conditioned. Keep that in mind depending on your hair texture.

The GRO revitalizing shampoo and conditioner has a strawberry smell. This was not a smell I enjoyed. It reminded me of the smell of a strawberry short cake doll. Or the Freeman Botanicals shampoos I bought as a teen back in the 1990s. I think even the Body Shop had a strawberry shampoo I tried at one point. The big issue for me is that this strawberry smell is not one I associate with a luxurious shampoo. Which is disappointing because I love the way the shampoo and conditioner makes my hair feel. But I can’t get on board with the smell.

GRO Biotin Gummies

These vegan heart shaped gummies contain biotin and folic acid as well as vitamins A, B-5, C, E, 6 and 12. Biotin is known to help with healthy hair and nail growth so I am not surprised that these gummies are part of what makes this system work. This particular combination helps support your body’s production of keratin and collagen. But this is not a quick fix. You need to take these gummies consistently for 3 to 4 months to see results.

These are strawberry flavoured. Which on their own is totally fine. I think the flavour is good and the heart shape is super cute.

My issue is I had a real aversion to popping these gummies in the morning after just using the strawberry scented shampoo. My mind couldn’t reconcile eating something that smelled the same as the product I was washing my hair with.

GRO Hair Serum

The Vegamour Hair Serum is likely the product you have seen advertised everywhere on social media. The big caveat here is that it takes time. One bottle is not enough to see results. This product takes consistency and time. And even then it is not about having insane new growth. This isn’t the Peanut Butter Solution. This product is going to help with less shedding and breakage. I think this needs to be paired with the Biotin Gummies to really see the potential.

I found that this product left my hair greasy so it I only applied it at night.

HYDR-8 Weightless Repair Oil

This weightless repair oil is to either use on damp hair before styling or to dry hair. It is to smooth, hydrate and add shine without the use of silicones.

They say that it is especially good for fine or thin hair. I find it hard to get the correct consistency when I apply to dry hair. It leaves my hair looking oily so I am definitely doing something wrong. You are only supposed to use one pump for fine hair but I found that even too much when applying to dry hair.

However when I apply it to damp hair just before styling it works great. No greasy look just hair that looks soft and shiny.

I love the smell of this product. It has a spicy herbal smell that is so lovely. I really wish the shampoo and conditioner had of smelled more like this. I would have been 100% all in.

This was the product I put off trying the longest and it ended up being my favourite. I think I was worried that it would have the same strawberry smell and it doesn’t!

Overall I would say there is promise with the Vegamour Gro Collection Review. There are things I like and things I don’t. I would say the strawberry smell is the biggest no for me. Even though the shampoo and condition are lovely and I like how my hair feels I am quite scent sensitive so I just can’t continue when the smell is not complementary or gives me headaches. If you love all things strawberry I would say try this!

Consistency is also something I struggle with when it comes to beauty products. I rarely use the same thing every day of the week. And in order to see positive results with this system you really have to be consistent. Especially with the gummies and serum.
