The Curated Tailored Coat Review

The Curated has quickly become a cult favourite for amazing quality classic looking coats. A mix of cashmere and merino wool as well as higher content cashmere coats one might think these coats come with a steep price tag. But that is the great thing about the Curated. There is less markup than traditional luxury making these coats affordable for those who want to pay for quality without the designer price. The Curated Tailored Coat Review will share all the pros and cons of this gorgeous coat.

The Curated Tailored Coat Review

I am wearing the Curated Tailored coat in grey melange. It has a 30% cashmere and 70% merino wool blend. The coat is not lined but a double faced style. This coat comes with a belt. You can attach belt loops as well but I haven’t bothered. That said if you are one who would lose the belt it might be a bigger priority for you. I tend to stash mine in my bag if I take it off.

The fit of the tailored coat is as the name suggests quite tailored. It fits slimmer to the body when compared with the Classic Coat which is more straight up and down. The tailored coat comes in at the waist for a more fit and flare style. From the waist the coat has an obvious a line cut.

I am usually a US 12, sometimes larger on the bottom and smaller on the top depending on the brand. I got the XL in the Tailored coat. I feel like this was the perfect fit. It does fit a bit slimmer than the Classic Coat. I got the Classic in a Large which I feel like fits similarly to the Tailored in XL; I don’t notice a big difference in the sizing, but I chalk that up to the different cut between the two styles.

The sleeves are also a bit more slimmer cut when compared to the Classic coat (seen here) and longer. I have an older style of the Classic with the shorter sleeves, which I kind of like since I don’t have super long arms. I think I might play around with turning up the sleeves on the Tailored coat.

The tailored coat is also longer than the classic coat. I am 5’4 and this coat hits me at the lower calf. Whereas the classic coat hits me just below the knee.

The tailored coat has slant pockets which are actually nicer for burying your cold hands as opposed to the large patch pockets on the other coats.

The main reasons I wanted to get this coat is the colour and the materials. This greige colour isn’t made in the other styles and it is such a great option. The coat itself is so soft. I believe the owner had mentioned on Instagram that the fabric was from one of the higher end mills and I can say it is softer than my other Curated coat that has the same cashmere/wool mix.

The fit and flare cut is more pronounced than I thought it would be. On the models who are by definition very slim the cut is less obvious than on me. I think the curvier you are the more the curves of the coat are going to stand out. I think because of that this coat would be a great option to wear with dresses as it will work with their shape and the length will keep you warm.

Overall I think I will get more use out of the Curated Classic Coat ( which you can see here) but I still love the Tailored coat because the quality is top notch and it just looks gorgeous.
