Shopping Sezane from Canada

In the past few years Sezane has become one of my favourite stores. I check out each drop (usually Wednesdays and Sundays) and always seem to have a wish list. You have to act fast though as things can sell out quickly. This is my guide for shopping Sezane from Canada.

Shopping Sezane from Canada

Does Sezane have stores in Canada?

Sezane does not have any stores in Canada, but lately they have been setting up pop up stores in potential markets like San Francisco and Madrid. Does this mean we will see a Sezane store pop up in Toronto or Montreal? Maybe, we will have to wait and see. But for now Canadians will have to shop Sezane online or travel to a city with a Sezane store.

Does Sezane ship to Canada?

Yes Sezane offers free shipping on purchases over $250 and free returns. They ship via DHL and I find the shipping to be very fast. Not only does the warehouse pack and get the orders out the door quickly, once shipped the order will be in your hands in a matter of days. ‘

When Sezane first started shipping to Canada purchases were in US dollars and we would have to pay duties and taxes via DHL after the order shipped. This has changed recently. Now Canadians can shop in Canadian dollars all in DDP. That means that the order has the duties and taxes baked into the price.

How does Sezane fit?

Most people will say that Sezane fits small. I find this to be an over simplification. Their fitted items yes tend to skew small, but if you read the fit guide that Sezane provides they are usually pretty up front about that. Lets put it this way. I never size down in Sezane, but I have sized up. As a US size 12/14 I find that Sezane sizes L/XL work well and pants wise I am more like a 14/16 in Sezane. I do not like snug fitting clothes however and would rather things feel relaxed and a bit loose than squeeze into something.

What makes Sezane so Special?

Sezane pieces have that certain je ne sais quoi? A certified B corp; three quarters of their collection is made with eco-friendly fabrics. I like that much of what they produce is from natural fibers. Their knitwear collections are always gorgeous and for the price more special that what you can find elsewhere. I like that they cater to a range of sizes, although they could do more to extend their range. Their pieces aren’t boring. They use print and pattern to offer fun clothing. I think that is what has drawn me to them most of all. As other retailers were getting really beige, Sezane was not.

How to shop Sezane

As I mentioned above Sezane does not have stores in Canada. But they do have stores in the US (New York and San Francisco) as well as stores in Paris, London and a few other cities in France. But the majority of us will have to shop Sezane online.

Sezane routinely drops new arrivals and restocks on Wednesdays and Sundays. Sundays are usually new collections, Wednesdays can be a mix of both.

I am shopping from the east coast of North America which means that the drops are happening while I am asleep. I know there are people out there that set alarms and stay up to shop the drops. I don’t do this. That said I have woken up to sold out items so take that as you will. Still most of the time I find that if I shop first thing in the morning there is still lots of selection. Larger pant sizes sell out fast. As do coats in bold colours. Essentials will come back in stock. For example the Leontine sweater will sell out in sizes but get restocked.

Hi!

I LOVE Sezane, and have been shopping there for a year, ever since I started working with a stylist (one of the nicest gifts I've ever given myself...)

My whole wardrobe is basically Sezane - I'm so, so, happy with the fit, and the quality, and the spirit of each piece.

I find the measurements in the size guide coupled with the one line of information they say about whether to order up or down for each individual piece, when taken together, really accurate.

I've also emailed them with my measurements if I'm still unsure about a specific piece, and found that helpful and prompt.

I read on another blog that another woman finds that she goes up one size in the jeans from what they suggest and I tend to agree - if it's denim I go up.

I'm really happy to learn that the new Canadian prices are DDP - that's a big relief.

I noticed that I didn't pay duties on my first order of this year, but I wondered if that was just a fluke.

Thanks for your post! Megan

I agree I find their sizing suggestions really help. I haven't tried their jeans but thanks for that insight that is super helpful! I do like the pricing change. It wasn't terrible to pay any duties with the DHL platform but it is so much easier this way with it baked into the price.

Sezane is taking over my wardrobe as well.
