Shopping in my closet week 2: Spotlight on Denim

Well I survived the first week of my February shopping hiatus. I didn’t buy anything for myself, my kids or my husband clothes or accessories related. The only thing I did purchase was my ticket to Toronto Fashion Week (or World Mastercard Fashion Week if you want to honor the sponsor not the city).

Originally when I thought about what I wanted to do with this closet audit and putting outfits together, I didn’t really think I was going to review my denim collection. But after the first real snowstorm of the Winter hit this weekend I realized I wasn’t too keen about taking photos outside and our attempts at indoor pictures haven’t turned out that well.

So I taped some denim reviews so that you can get an idea of fit for some denim you might not be that familiar with and I can go through my jeans and see where the holes in my denim wardrobe might be. Hello skinny jeans…

The first review I have is for the Gap 1969 Real Straight Jean. This is my third pair and they are my skinny jean substitute.

What I like about these jeans, aside from the totally reasonable price point, is that they have this really great blue colour. And the more you wear them the nicer they get. I think GAP does a great dark denim. It is still blue, not too over dyed and their denim is soft without them loosing alot of shape when you wear them.

I also think that GAP denim is easier to fit than some premium denim lines because they don’t have a super low rise so there is room to fit a bum and hips.

I wore out my previous two pairs of these jeans to the point where I had holes in the knees and in the bum/crotch area. Really that isn’t a testimate to bad quality but that I liked these jeans so much I wore them to death.

Do you have a jean that you have worn that much?
