Sezane James Jumper Review

The James Jumper from Sezane is a long sleeved merino wool sweater with horn like buttons on the shoulder. We don’t actually call sweaters jumpers in North America but this crew neck cable knit sweater comes in stripe and a khaki green. Sharing what I love about this sweater and why I was glad to finally grab on for my closet on restocks. This is my Sezane James Jumper Review.

Sezane James Jumper Review

I fell in love with the look of the James Jumper in an earlier release and it sold out pretty fast. Like so many of Sezane’s styles it was a blink and you miss it moment. I loved the stripes and cable knit. The beautiful buttons. The preppiness of the vibe.

The chunky knit sweater is make of 100% merino wool. I find it soft and a bit slouchy in style. It is a bulky knit though. I am not able to wear this under my Sezane trench. It needs a coat that can accomodate the bulk. Something more relaxed and oversized.

Size wise I went with a large. I have bought sweaters from sezane in the XL and I prefer the large. In fact Sezane does suggest that if you are in between two sizes to size down and I would concur with this assessment. I have lots of room in this sweater. It does not pull in the chest. But I also don’t feel like there is too much fabric.

I find this sweater similar to the Oliver Jumper which I snagged from the archives. I got that sweater in the XL and wish I have of gotten it in Large instead as it has so much extra bulk. Both of these sweaters feature the buttons at the shoulders but a different knit pattern and the Oliver jumper has a mock neck.

The buttons at the shoulder are fully functional, not just for decoration. You can unbutton them and open up the neck hole if you so choose. The buttons are horn like, which means they look like horn but are actually plastic. There is also a gold trim to the buttons.

The James Sweater is an updated, modern striped fishermans sweater that is softer due to the 100% merino wool. For me the only drawback to the sweater is the bulk and that I have to think about what coat to wear over top as it won’t fit under more fitted styles.

What do you think of the Sezane James Jumper review? Is this a sweater you want in your closet?

Hi - I'm interested in the James sweater but worried about sizing. You mentioned that have it in a large. I hope you don't find but I would like to ask your height and weight to compare. Right now only the large is on the website and I would like to see if we have similar stature to know if I should get it or not. Thank you!

I am 5'4 but I can't tell you my weight as I don't actually weigh myself. I tend to wear a 12/14 US sizes right now. 32/33 in jeans. What I do with retailers I am not comefortable with size wise is compare their size charts to one I am used to buying from and am confident about my size. I vary between a Large and XL in Sezane. I don't find the James particularly slim fitting but if you want the sweater to be slouchy or oversized I would size up.
