Sezane Gatsby Top Review
The Gatsby top is a long sleeve boatneck organic cotton stripe shirt. It has a button front part of the way down the shirt much like a pop over style top.
This isn’t simply another stripe tee. It is thicker and more substantial. I would say it is somewhere between a stripe tee and a stripe sweater.
Sezane recommends that if you want a more fitted look choose the size below. For a slightly oversized look choose your usual size. I bounce between Large and Extra Large in Sezane. I chose the XL in this top. As you can see this top doesn’t look oversized or drapey. It just looks like a regular shirt. Not super fitted nor oversized. I feel like the models might have sized up to get the really relaxed look. Either that or as someone with curves the top just fits differently.
So is the Gatsby Top worth it? If you are looking for a thin stripe layering tee this is not a good option. If you are looking for a mariner top with something that makes it a bit different then this is a great option. It is more structured and has a thicker feel than most stripe tops I have owned.
This top also comes in a burgundy stripe option. If you want something a bit more traditional you could go with the Colette Mariniere which still looks special because of the buttons at the shoulders. The Noan Mariniere is another option with buttons along the sides that you can open right up if you want a relaxed look. It is my least favourite of the three options.
