Palm Party Skirt

palm party skirt

I had originally bought this palm Party Skirt to go with me on vacation. But with the winter weight that hasn’t yet come off and the fact that the XL is the equivalent of an 8-10 (US SIZING!) it isn’t the most comfortable thing for me to be wearing at the moment. And with all inclusive eating and drinking plus the heat I figured after a day I wouldn’t even be able to get it zipped any more!

So instead of packing it for vacation I thought I would pull on my spanx and style it for while at home instead. Plus the blossoms on the trees provide a gorgeous back drop.

As I mentioned above this is the extra large size and it fits more like a medium. Usually when I think extra large I think size 12-14, but I guess this is more junior sizing than adults. But at the same time this is a full skirt, albiet in a super fun print, but I would have expected a more generous size XL, especially from a North American company.

I digress, I really should just make more of an effort to lose the winter chub!

Since it still has been cool even though we are heading into halfway through May I still have been layering with my JCREW trench on a regular basis.

My wedge heels are my all time favourites but they are circa 2006. This is a style that JCREW needs to bring out of the archives and make again.

Last Days of Summer ⋆ chic everywherechic everywhere

[…] I decided that I needed to take this palm print skirt out for one more wear before the summer was over. I have been working out lately trying to get in better shape again and even though I haven’t seen much movement on the scale yet this skirt is easier to do up! Last seen here. […]

Gorgeous outfit (and backdrop)! I love that you paired the bold print of the skirt with the tiny stripes on your shirt. And remember, don't make your body fit the clothes, make the clothes fit your body! (Although I have yet to take my own advice on that! So I'm a Spanx girl all the way!) I seem to have a similar problem with skirts that zip at the waistband. I am a size 12-14 so in some brands I wear a size L or maybe an XL. Neither would fit! I would not be able to breathe. So I just steer away from that type of skirt and go for ones with some elastic in the waist. But I can see how this beautiful skirt was irresistible!

I think I need to take the skirt to get altered. If I added some elastic at the waistband I could easily get so much more wear out of the skirt!! I believe that if they had of used a higher quality zipper it wouldn't be such an issue either but the tiny hidden zipper is a pain!

Wow! This skirt... love it! So pretty- I do think I have a mild obsession for palm/tropical prints!
