JCREW Wintress Puffer Review

JCREW wintress puffer review

Even though we haven’t had an overly snowy winter yet it still gets quite cold now most days. One of the things I wanted after last winter waiting to pick up my kids on the cold and windy playground was a longer puffer coat. But I didn’t want something overly sporty looking I wanted something that could work with work outfits as easily as it could on the ski slopes, which is a tall order I know. This is my JCREW Wintress Puffer Review.

With all the sales I decided to test out the JCREW Wintress puffer in navy. I love how it cinches at the waist and the tie is long enough to make a bow. The faux fur on the hood is also pretty amazing.

JCREW Wintress Puffer Review:

First I will go into what I love about this coat. The colour is quite lovely and a classic alternative to black. I find navy less harsh than black but obviously not an out there colour. I mentioned the faux fur on the hood it is quite lovely and more substantial than on my JCREW Vail parka. The hood also fits my head much better instead of being too deep. Both the hood an the faux fur is removable so you have more flexibility as to how to wear the coat.

While down filled it is a very light weight coat and probably not as warm as say a Canada Goose coat rated for the Arctic. But lets face it, it is rarely THAT cold in southern Ontario. I love that it feels like wearing a cloud.

Now to the things that I don’t love about the JCREW Wintress Puffer. The thing that really bugs me about this coat is the placement of the slant pockets. Essentially they are boob pockets. And because I am not flat chested like the models who sell this coat or like the 16 year old version of myself it is pretty obvious that these are boob pockets with the little gold snaps that stick out on my chest. I greatly prefer the placement of the slant pockets on the JCREW Vail Parka but understand that that was impossible due to the waist tie on this coat. Still it would make sense to either have skipped the gold snap just on this pocket or to have the slant pockets where you would naturally place your hands because lets face it I am not going to walk around with my hands up near my boobs.

Many of the reviews for this coat on the JCREW website say that the fit is small for this coat, which I didn’t really find. It isn’t like I can’t zip it up and require a larger size. However it is snug when layering sweaters underneath. That said I typically find that puffers tend to fit smaller than a woolen coat.
