I shared a post about summer essentials a few years ago. It was meant to be something that worked for summer weekends at the cottage, road trips and European vacation packing. It feels a bit relaxed because summer has that relaxed feel. The summer essentials update will get you through the next few months of warm weather when you are always off somewhere, even if it is to the backyard patio.
Summer Essentials Update
- Tiger tee – I have this tee in the black. I like the more neutral version as it still comes off as a cool tee but will mix and match easier. If you want it a bit more punchy there is also a white version with an orange tiger.
- Black stripe tee – I just bought this tee and online it looks more black and white, but in reality the stripes are more cream or beige. But that sets it apart from every other black tee I own. That and it is a soft slub fabric.
- V neck tank – a white tank top will do no wrong. This style means you don’t have to worry about bra straps.
- Linen pants – I have said it so many times but I live in linen pants in the summer. I don’t even really bother with shorts that often anymore because a breezy linen pant is perfect.
- Jean shorts – I know I said I don’t bother with shorts but how cool are these jean cut offs? They are a bit longer, but you can always roll them up if you need to. I would size up to wear them loose.
- Linen shorts – I am very tempted by these. Easy linen shorts when it is so hot out you need less fabric.
- Floral skirt – this skirt has a very boho vibe but that is exactly what I am going for in the summer.
- Basket bag – I have this exact bag and it is such a chic alternative to a raffia bag. Plus the leather isn’t as fragile.
- Hat – If I am spending any time outside in the summer a hat is a must. This one has a bucket hat vibe which feels fun without looking too youthful for me to pull off.
- Black swimsuit – A classic black bathing suit is a no brainer for every summer capsule wardrobe. It is the one you rely on when everything else feels wrong.
- Buckle sandal – a chic flat sandal is the thing that will go with any of the outfits created here. Even with the skirt and tank.
- Bow sandal – this sandal also goes with everything but has a bit more substantial footbed so the vibe is different. It also provides a bit of colour without upsetting the neutral look.
- Fun sunglasses – it is summer after all so sunglasses are needed. These feel like wearing sunshine.
