I bought a red coat today. It wasn’t what I was I was originally shopping for this season. I started out this fall looking for a camel robe coat. Nothing I saw was exactly what I wanted. Some were too short, the lapels were too small or the colour was just off.
Last year I was a bit obsessed with the Red Chateau parka from JCREW. I already bought the camel version from Factory and it seemed a bit crazy to buy the same-ish coat in red. But here we are with the temperatures dropping again and I am loving that red coat!
I love the bold red colour and the fur on the hood but the Chateau parka is a more casual coat. I took a look at the wool Icon trench and while the camel version still didn’t fulfill the robe coat qualities I was struck by the red version. What I like most was the back detail. Also that it is a sleeker more professional looking option compared with the Chateau parka.
The trench style would be fantastic with a wide leg dress pant just as it would sleek dark denim. Add a fur collar for some extra drama. Plus one can not disregard the obvious cliche of how awesome a red coat would be for Christmas.
