Happy 2015! I thought I would start off the new year on the blog here with some sale scores that will be staples in my wardrobe for a long time.

The cape coat is from Zara and even though it has gotten really cold here all of a sudden, it is the perfect layer for driving in the car or wandering around the mall.

I had held off buying another cape because I already had one in my closet and I didn’t get as much wear out of it as I thought I would. But I think because I bought it about 5 years ago and ended up finding cape coats that I liked better after I already bought it I stopped wearing it out of spite! Anyways this cape from Zara is a military green whereas the older one is black so I guess I am not over doing the whole cape trend!

The other sale find that I am featuring in this post are my new Denim for Hope jeans from Jean Machine & Second Denim. Second Denim are the same company that makes Yoga Jeans, and this Denim for Hope line raises money for the I am a Girl project.

The jeans themselves are great. I picked up the high rise skinny ankle in classic blue. It is a perfect option if you are looking for a basic jean without any fading or rips or whiskering. The wash is a bit darker than it appears online but it is just a clean, classic jean. The ankle cut is perfect for me but it is also longer than they appear on the model. The jeans look a bit short on the model but on me they are not so cropped.

The fit and shape is great for girls with curves as the shape and the amount of stretch is excellect for accomodating hips and a bum. The rise although listed as a high rise is still below the belly button so defintely a modern fit. I think my favourite part of the whole jean is the waistband which is a bit wider than other jeans and keeps everything where it should be and the jeans stay put; no excessive pulling or slipping like other skinny jeans I have. The only thing I don’t love are the front pockets which are very shallow. The Denim for Hope pair is comparable with my favourite denim from Madewell.

This look is what I hope to achieve style wise for 2015. Keep things simple but stylish and uncomplicated.

[…] feels refreshing to be able to wear fewer layers (I have been wearing this cape constantly) and put away the big scarves and winter […]
