Sezane Rafael Coat Review

This year I am very much into shorter length coats. Not a cropped coat because those don’t really have much longevity seasonality wise. But instead of all the full length long coats I am gravitating towards shorter or mid lengths that sit just at the hips instead of the calves. The Rafael coat is that magic length that adds polish but is also easy to commute in without too much bulk. Sharing my Sezane Rafael Coat Review below.

Sezane Rafael Coat Review

The Rafael Coat is a double faced mid length wool coat. It comes in three colours; black, mustard and the rusty brown I am wearing here.

The coat has a high collar that you can button all the way up or leave to fall open. The button fastening is said to be double breasted but unlike a traditional pea coat there isn’t a second set of buttons. So really it ends up looking more like an asymetrical button as it buttons off to one side.

I was a bit worried before the coat arrived that it wouldn’t be all that special on but it is that perfectly unassuming layer. It drapes wonderfully and has room for layers without looking too big.

The descripton is that this coat is slightly oversized. It is not fitted but I am not sure oversized is the right descriptor. I got the same size I always get in Sezane Coats (US 12 EU 44) and it is perfect. I feel like I have enough room for layers although maybe not my heaviest knits.

Since this coat is a double faced style that means it does not have a lining. I like this style of coat because they drape beautifully and if you layer them properly you don’t even need the perceived extra warmth a lined coat provides. That said this coat might not be perfect for a January polar vortex. Still there area many times when you want to throw on a coat for running errands without being weight down by something heavy. This little jacket will add polish to an otherwise basic outfit and get you through most of the fall and winter.

If you are looking for a cute little wool coat that is a less structured alternative to a pea coat or wool blazer coat this is it. I know I will be wearing the Sezane Rafael coat constantly this season.

What do you think of the Sezane Rafael Coat review? Is this a style you would add to your closet?

Hello! Do you think this coat would work for spring or is it a bit too heavy and warm? I have only just come across it and I love it but don't want to waste the cash at the end of the season! Thanks :)

Personally I wore it more in fall and I will wear again in spring because it isn't super heavy. It depends on how warm your spring is as it still is a wool coat. But it more of a transitional wool coat than one for proper winter.

The colour is a great shade isn't it?! And the shape of the coat is great too.
