Dress for the weather

I read a content creator who lives considerably south of where I am based, that she was putting away all her linen because it was autumn. But it is still warm! I am no longer dressing for the season. If the calendar says fall but the temperature says 20 plus degrees Celsius I am going to dress for how warm it is. Or if the temperature plumets I can pull out the warmer coats. Or if we have a week of rain make sure to carry a rain coat. Seasons change and evolve. Bringing out a puffer coat just because the calendar hit a certain date but melting inside is not for me. So I am going to dress for the weather not the season.

Dress for the Weather and Not for the Season

Because I am dressing for the weather I am still wearing linen and sandals. In fact now is a good time to snap these things up on sale! Even better if you are heading out on a warm weather vacation later this year. Maybe you are heading to the Caribbean for New Years or a stint in Spain in November. I am layering with jackets and knits for those cooler mornings but often by afternoon those are long gone.

  1. Merino Wool tee – these tees are a great option for these transition seasons because they feel a bit warmer than a regular cotton tee but they somehow don’t cause you to overheat when it gets warmer later in the day.
  2. Stripe Linen pants – I bought these when they went on sale not too long ago and now they are on even deeper discount. I like them with this ivory tee but also with a rusty red colour tee I have too. I wore the pink stripe pair I had to death through summer but I think this stripe goes with more fall colours even though they are linen.
  3. Sandals – I am still wearing sandals most days because we are still hitting highs in the mid 20s. I picked up these on sale because I have a slightly different pair from the same brand from a few years ago and they are fantastic. I find these really accommodating to my feet. They are soft and comfortable not rigid and hard to break in.
  4. Jean shacket – First off I like this shacket for this season. The shape is a bit different than your typical jean jacket but it is a bit more substantial than a jean shirt. Great layering piece.
  5. Linen pants – Like I said above I have put away my more summery linen pants. So the white and the pink stripey ones. But the more earthy neutral tones, I am still wearing them as they look more fall but while still keeping me comfortable in the warmer temperatures.
  6. Stripe cotton sweater – one thing I have been wearing more of is my cotton sweaters. They are a great option for this time of year, especially when you are dealing with cooler mornings and going into air conditioning. These sweaters go well with earthy linen as they both have this more organic look.

What are you wearing at this time of the year? Do you dress for the weather? Or do you dress for the season, the temperatures be damned?
