Getting Dressed for Heart of Fashion
The holiday season approaches with Thanksgiving around the corner, World Mastercard Fashion week and the earliest Christmas parties will be held in November. That means it is time to start thinking about getting dressed for events that call for something a bit more fancy, a bit more embellishment than what we are used to in the day to day.
One particular Toronto event has me mentally going through my closet and thinking about getting dressed for the ultimate fashion cocktail party right now. I was invited to attend Heart of Fashion, a runway show and cocktail party benefiting North York General Hospital with proceeds going towards new leading-edge technology and breast cancer treatments, but unfortunately due to scheduling conflicts I can't attend. But a girl can dream right? What would I wear if I could go?!
I came up with three different looks, with three different themes, all found from retailers at Toronto’s Shops at Don Mills, host and fabulous venue for the event!
The first outfit is a classic look for a cocktail party. I love the floaty feel of this dress. It is feminine and oh so gorgeous. I decided to play up the girly girl feel throughout the accessories. The bow pumps are so fun. The coat even has embellishment which I love. I prefer a coat that completes the evening ensemble and not one that looks out of place because it is too casual.

This is a day to night transformation look. The dress would be work appropriate on it's own, but transform this classic black dress into something more phenomenal by adding gorgeous accessories and THAT COAT! The lace trench is absolutely gorgeous and is from Canadian designed Madame Moje.
This last look might be my favourite. The sequin embellishment is fantastic on its own but there is a lace panel on the back which brings this dress to the next level. The ruffle detail on the hem of this trench keeps it from being just another trench coat. And the gold and black contrast on those heels is amazing.
If you aren't familiar with Shops at Don Mills it is an outdoor mall with stores like Anthropologie, Aritzia and Banana Republic and exclusive stores like Oak + Fort, Madame Moje and Haight & Ashbury. One of my must visit stores when I am there is Murale. It is Shoppers Drug Mart's answer to Sephora and they have so many fantastic beauty products. They carry a full range of Nars and Bobbi Brown so I am hooked.
I am so excited to share that one of you lucky readers will be going to the Heart of Fashion event this October 25th at the Shops at Don Mills. The prize pack includes 2 tickets to the Heart of Fashion event which includes the fashion show/cocktail party and all the food stations. This is a $500 value. It is going to be a fantastic night out supporting a great cause. So get entered below.
***This event is held in Toronto so you must be able to make it into the city to attend the event. Also this is an age of majority event, minors need not enter.***

I am sure she will pick something wonderful 🙂
I would look for something at Anthropologie. I'm gravitating between white sparkle and a more black sophisticated looking dress.
Always go with sparkles!

I would choose the first one i thiknk 🙂 what a great event!
I always need something to go from office to party so i love Banana Republic for that. It's my go-to store for work to party/going out wear!
It is something that Banana Republic does very well.
Girly Night Out is my style but I'd prefer the silhouette of the black dress a bit more A line minus the bow.
I like the go with sparkle dress. You can never be too glamourous! 😉
I'm a guy but I do like to check out your blog so I will tell you my style inspiration. I would definitely base my look off of Prince William at the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity event earlier this year and get myself a sharp new suit from Tristan, shiny loafers from ALDO, and a cool tie from Leigh and Harlow. My look would be secretly finished off underneath with a crisp new pair of unmentionables from Calvin Klein Underwear. What an amazing honour it would be to go!
Sounds fantastic Kaleb 🙂
I love the "girly girl night out" look and would take my inspiration from that! I've been meaning to pick up this classy cocktail dress from BCBGMAXAZRIA and some chic pumps from ALDO so this would be the perfect reason. It's such an amazing cause, thank you for this contest!
Also I would definitely get my makeup for the event from Murale! 🙂
I'm into the day dress, night time style and I know BCBGMAXAZRIA will have just what I need!
I would draw my inspiration from girly girl night out. The PHOEBE SLEEVELESS A-LINE DRESS - the my kind of dress. Love it
Girly girl night out would be my inspiration!
