Quince Boyfriend Crew Sweater Review

Quince finally ships to Canada with a dedicated Canadian website, no added duties or taxes at the door. There is a Canadian office and everything. I have been kind of ignoring the hype around Quince because every time I checked they only shipped to the US. That all changed earlier this year. I ordered a few things to try, a mixture of clothing and housewares to try out this brand. This is the Quince Boyfriend Crew Sweater Review.

This sweater is actually called the 100% Organic Cotton Boyfriend Crew but that was way too much to include in the title. But it is super descriptive as it is an organic cotton crew sweater that is cut boxy and relaxed.

This sweater, or rather the stripe version has gotten quite a bit of attention as it is supposedly a dupe for the Jenni Kayne Chloe Crewneck which I already have so I wanted to compare the two.

My first thoughts were aside from the general shape and that they are both cotton sweaters I didn't see much similarities when comparing the details. Sure they are both organic cotton, but the Quince sweater is much thinner and lightweight. The Jenni Kayne sweater is a chunky knit and has a heavier feel. The cuffs and hem on the Quince sweater are a bit longer, whereas the Chloe crewneck they are puffier. Same with the collar around the neck.

The way the two sweaters hang on the body is different too. The Chloe Crew actually seems to have drape because of the heft of the knit. Whereas the Quince Boyfriend crew doesn't really have the same drape because it is so lightweight.

Right now I feel like I will get more wear out of the Quince Boyfriend Crew because it is just lighter and easier to wear in summer. I love the tomato red colour, I like the more pronounced sleeve and hem.

It comes down to the Chloe crewneck is a gorgeous sweater. But because it is heavier it tends to be too hot for the warmer months, but too cold in the winter months. Winter is when I am wearing wool not cotton. The Chloe crewneck looks like the perfect summer knit but I have had difficulty wearing it in the summer. The weight of the Quince knit makes more sense for my life right now.

So while I think based on the materials used the Jenni Kayne option does command a higher price tag (although 5 times seems like a big premium) the Quince version is very worth it in my mind too. Just expect the known differences.
