Sezane Arnaud Trench Coat Review

Sezane has recently launched their new fall pieces under the guise of a new direction for the brand. One of the styles that I tried is the Arnaud Trench. It is a deviation from the more classic trench styles that Sezane has released in the past. The Sezane Arnaud Trench Coat Review will share what I like and what I don't like about this trench.

Sezane Arnaud Trench Coat Review

The Sezane Arnaud Trench has a stand collar that buttons all the way up. The coat is double breasted like a classic trench but has snaps instead of buttons. There are large patch pockets and is unlined. The belt at the waist has a double buckle. There are similar adjustable tabs at the sleeves that have the same double buckle. It allows for the coat to be cinched at the wrists.

When I first brought the coat out of the packaging I wasn't sure about it. The fabric felt similar to the Scott Trench but there was quite a bit more fabric. When I tried it on I wasn't wowed. I ordered my usual size for Sezane coats (US 12). Even though this was my usual size it felt like too much fabric for my 5'4 self. But at the same time I couldn't see myself sizing down further because I didn't want it to not button properly. Then when I tried the belt it was way too short. It belted but barely. It was almost like an extra small belt was paired with a large coat. I want something that I can tie in a bow or has some length to it, not what is seen here.

The sleeves on this trench are definitely too long for me and I think between that and the belt this coat just doesn't work. If you are taller it would be a better style for you.

I feel for the price the fact that the Arnaud is unlined is a deal breaker too. The Clyde is just so much of a nicer style because of the lining. A lining also lengthens the season of wearability. I also feel for the price Sezane shouldn't have a one size fits all belt. It feels like they didn't bother to actually have someone model the coat at larger sizes to see how it fit.

And to be extra picky I think the snaps don't add any visual interest to the coat like buttons do. The coat just ends up looking kinda boring.

Overall I will be returning this coat. It is a no for me due to fit and the design choices that feel cheap even though the price point is anything but.

I am also returning this sweater for essentially the same reasons. The proportions are all off, too large and too cropped at the same time. I have seen this sweater on smaller influencers and it looked good but on me I disliked it intensely.

What do you think of the Sezane Arnaud Trench Coat review? What do you think of the New Sezane?
