Knitwear season is starting and I just added the Amiel to my closet. This Alpaca blend sweater is a lovely basic to layer for fall and winter. Not to mention the feel is soft and a bit stretchy. The Sezane Amiel Jumper Review will share why I kept this sweater over a different Sezane option.
Sezane Amiel Jumper Review
The Amiel sweater is a classic crew neck sweater. There are small cable knit details at the hem of the sleeves and the body. Otherwise the sweater is a plain knit.
The neckline is a crew neck but it is more open and wider than a usual. If you usually shy away from crew neck sweaters because they fit too high on the neck and are constricting you should try this one. It is much looser and comfortable.
Size wise I went with the XL on this sweater. This jumper has a slightly oversized fit and the fit recommendation is that if you are between sizes to size down. An XL on the current size chart is a 42 or a US size 10. I would usually go for the XXL or 44 which is a US 12. I like how this fits as I think the size up would have been quite big.
The feel of this sweater is soft but also stretchy. Alpaca is always a safe bet for a soft sweater that isn’t too bulky but is really warm. I would beware when washing this knit to only hand wash as with anything stretchy like this will shrink easily.
This sweater seems to be related to a number of other styles like the Othello, Otis and even the Sama. I actually ordered the Sama but returned it because it was very fitted and very cropped. I think if it had of been longer I would have kept it. I liked the dark brown colour. It seemed to have a bit of variation that gave the colour depth. And I liked the thicker neckline although I thought it was a bit too high. The reason these sweaters all seem to be in the same family so to speak is that they all have the tiny cable detail. Amiel has it on the cuff and hem. There is a similar detail on the Otis with it added near the mock neck. Othello also has the detail at the sleeve and hem. Sama has the same stretchy alpaca knit with the cable detail down the front.
If you are looking for a nice alpaca basic in a great colour with a crewneck that won’t choke you it is so high this is a great option.
What do you think of the Sezane Amiel review? Is this a style you want to add to your closet?
