Unbound Merino Review

You have probably seen this brand pop up in social media or maybe your favourite travel blogger was raving about not having to pack as much because of Unbound Merino. Earlier this year I was looking to replace some tops that didn’t fit the way I wanted them to and I decided to see if Unbound Merino lives up to the hype. My Unbound Merino review will share what I like and don’t like about their tees and would I order anything else from the brand.

Unbound Merino Review

Unbound Merino is a Canadian company that is known for their merino wool clothing. I think mostly for their merino wool tees but they also have hoodies, pants, tanks and even underwear. The pull of merino wool clothing is that it is temperature regulating and antibacterial. Plus it doesn’t wrinkle!

But I have been burned by sportier travel brands. Ones that fit small and only seem to be geared towards super fitness enthusiasts. Or have one slim fitting style only. How would they fit on an over 40 curvy body?

The Unbound Merino tees come in a number of different styles. I have two different styles, the boxy pocket tee and their regular crew neck tee. I prefer the boxy cut as it not as slim fitting. I am wearing the XL which translates into around a size 12-14. This is the largest size so not exactly size inclusive. But I like the fit and would recommend this tee for a few different reasons.

I now have this shirt in three colours. The black and white I got first to test whether the Unbound Merino tees lived up to the hype. I wear the black top the most but the white, which is more of an off white is great too. Not see through which I can’t say for most cotton tees. The merlot tee was just a gorgeous colour and I am drawn to jewel tones more than ever.

So does this tee live up to all the promises? Yes every single one.

It is fast drying. I wash the top in the washing machine but lay it flat to dry. And it drys within a few hours, not days like some clothing.

The tee is anti wrinkle. When I lay the tee flat to dry it drys beautifully. Unlike a cotton tee that would be a wrinkly mess this one is completely wearable without needing an iron.

The tee is anti odour. I wore this tee for a day of travelling, including though a hot Caribbean airport with no air-conditioning. When I took it off it was not soaking in sweat and it did not smell. So much so I felt confident wearing it again on holiday.

So you really can get away with packing less items on vacation. And you can get away with doing less laundry in your day to day life.

But those reasons are not the only ones to like these tees. The fabric is really soft. They are warmer when it is cold and regulate your temperature when it is hot too. The drape of the tee is really gorgeous. They have a more luxe look to them than a regular cotton tee.

I will be the first to admit these tees are not cheap. This is a premium t-shirt. Its priced more like knitwear. But considering you can do less laundry and get away with fewer clothes in general in addition to them being just a gorgeous top that easily works for the office as well as travel I think I can get over the price. They have already gone into high rotation for my summer office looks in addition to wearing them repeat for our spring holiday. I think these tees live up to all the hype. Consider these a must buy. Now if it only came in stripes.
