Trying out ESalon

Colouring your hair can be an expensive ordeal. Especially once you commit to a colour that isn’t close to your own or if you are covering grey.

Salon colouring can run hundreds of dollars and then you need to do it again and again.

And then if you don’t like the results you are stuck either admitting to the stylist you hate it (have you done this?!) or paying for ANOTHER colour.

I have never been really sold on my salon colour. Highlights were a disaster and other times were hit or miss.

Colouring at home is more my style but box colours just don’t give good results with the amount of grey I have. So what I have been doing is going for salon colour at home. This gives the grey coverage I need with a price point I love.

esalon review

This time around I tried out esalon. It gives you a salon colour at a price between box colours and salon visits. Unlike heading to a discount beauty store is knowing what colour is the right one to try. If you are lucky you will find a stylist who will tell you what brand and colour to try but otherwise you are rolling the dice with your best estimate.

Esalon on the other hand has professional colourists assess all the factors to get you a great colour like the amount of grey, your natural colour, desired colour.

Every colour is custom blended.

I wanted to tweak the colour I had been doing on my hair but didn’t really want to get hooked on salon visits to get this accomplished. esalon colour, review, salon colour at home

I filled out the survey on esalon and uploaded a few recent photos and I am really happy with the results. Especially since the colour cost me $20 instead of $100. But I think what stuck with me most about the whole esalon experience was the little things that go with the package that really create a at home salon experience.

The Stain Guard packet includes the goo that you shmear on your hairline to avoid any unsightly stains. There are also stain remover wipes to get rid of any sploches (especially on your ears!) I loved the colour safe shampoo and conditioner that comes as part of the kit but especially loved the Tinted Love that I have gladly added to my shampooing routine.

You don’t have to buy the colouring tools but I got a set with my first order. In fact you can order more of their shampoo, conditioner, colouring gloss. You can make the esalon experience as affordable or luxurious as you want.

Before

Overall I am very happy with my first experience with esalon. I am going to go ahead and try the same colour a second time and see if I need to tweak it again to get the right colour and coverage.

I am a natural dark blonde with some gray starting to show. For years I got highlights in a salon, but can't really afford it. I tried the box color, but my hair always came out red. I have hypothyroidism. So I decided to go red. I found out about esalon and started using it. I had the color tweaked and love it. I get so many compliments. I am on auto reorder every ten weeks. Highly recommend esalon!

I have home colored my home for years, but just started going back to a salon. The only problem is that it costs me close to $200 each visit. Luckily I can get away with visits 3 months apart if I use root touch-up. This product sounds amazing!! I am going to check this out right after I post this comment! Thanks for the info and the tips!!!!! I'll keep you posted on the results!

Being a blond, home colouring can be tricky... you tend to get really brassy results. I would try esalon though if I was not rocking the platinum blond look right now - for my current colour, professional help is a must. xo Emma http://strollingthecityinheels.com

I think that is why it works for me because I am sticking close to my natural shade and covering grey as opposed to drastically changing it. I would obviously have to go to a salon to go bright red or blonde. I think too that might be why I wasn't into paying high dollars for sticking to my natural shades. Seemed like I could do it myself!
