Everlane Cashmere Turtleneck Review

Last Updated on March 21, 2019 by Jane

This winter I have been all about turtlenecks. I was watching old episodes of Alias (season 3) and I was loving the classic minimal looks Melissa George was wearing. Many of them included a turtleneck sweater under a jacket. Think Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in the 90’s with the sleek hair, turtleneck and a modern flare jean. These outfits are timeless and could easily work for the decades they originated in as today. So I went on a bit of a turtleneck binge buying two different styles from my favourite minimalist brand Everlane. This is my Everlane Cashmere Turtleneck Review.

Everlane Cashmere Turtleneck Review

The Everlane Cashmere Turtleneck is essenitally a turtleneck version of Everlane’s $100 cashmere crewneck. The sleeves (which I love) and cut is the same. The price is slightly higher at $120 vs $100, I guess to account for the neck portion of the knit.

Since I ordered my original cashmere crew they have expanded the sizes somewhat to include extra large. I did size up to get a more relaxed boyfriend fit. I will be honest I wish I had of stuck with the large. Sizing up did give a looser fit but I didn’t think that it would be overly looser in the sleeve cuff (which it is). I prefer the fit of my usual size large to sizing up.

Sizing recommendation – take your usual size.

The sweater itself was everything I was expecting. The cashmere is of good quality considering the price. I have noticed pilling though mostly in the armpit area. Pilling is expected with cashmere. Especially where there is friction.

The weight of the sweater is ideal. It isn’t too heavy or too thin. I can easily layer long sleeve tees underneath for extra warmth. My office can get very cold as I sit by the window. I like this sweater because it is thick enough to be warm without being chunky or two thick to fit under winter coats comfortably.

The defining factor of whether I wear a turtleneck frequently or not is how the neck feels. If it is too tight I am pulling at it all day, uncomfortable. Thankfully the neck on this Everlane cashmere turtleneck is comfortable. It also helps that it is cashmere so it is super soft.

Mix the perfect fitted but not too fitted neck with the great extra long cuffs to keep out the cold, with a natural shoulder and a fit that allows for layering without compromising its classic look and you have a great cashmere turtleneck.

This cashmere sweater is a great option for someone who likes classic clothing. Great for a business casual office setting. Or for weekend layering.everlane cashmere turtleneck review
