Ahh Bra Review

I know better than to buy a bra at Shoppers Drug Mart. Really I do. But I was sick of not having a white/light coloured bra that wasn’t a nursing bra.

I kept meaning to go out and get sized at a lingerie store for a REAL BRA. I have black ones that are in heavy rotation but that doesn’t really work with a white tee.

So when I saw the Ahh Bra at Shopper Drug Mart I thought “If it does what it says it does, that is all I need”.

ahh bra reviewThe Ahh Bra promises Total Comfort. And on that it doesn’t disappoint. It is super comfortable. But I really do not think that the ahh bra replaces a bra that properly fits you.

The Ahh Bra, has no wires, clasps, soft full coverage cups and wide straps. It is kind of like a shelf bra, but because there is the 4 way knitted fabric you don’t have the dreaded uniboob.

It sounds like I like this bra and will buy it again. That isn’t the case. Where they get you with the Ahh Bra is that every picture of a woman in a traditional bra is ill-fitting. So sure the Ahh Bra looks like a fantastic solution if you have been wearing the wrong sized, too small bra all your life.

But the Ahh Bra doesn’t replace a well fitted bra. Yes you don’t have back fat, and it is super comfy, but so is a well fitted bra. The Ahh Bra doesn’t give you uniboob but it doesn’t really create a nice shape either. After breast-feeding two kids, I need all the support I can get and I found that my breast looked wider than normal because there is no real side support.

And there is no way you can run in this bra. On the Ahh Bra website they show a girl running in this bra, but there is NO WAY there is enough support for running in this bra.

Which begs the question. Do you really shop your shirt size? That is what the Ahh Bra suggests yet even in their own marketing speak they say it stretches up to 2 sizes. Which makes me wonder if to get the support they promise should you be sizing DOWN?

Pros

  • comfortable
  • no uni-boob
  • low price point

Cons

  • not overly supportive
  • sizing is questionable
  • the larger your boobs the wider they go
  • good for under t-shirts but not for anything with smaller straps, low back styles

Sure I will continue to wear my Ahh Bra on casual days when I am doing laundry around the house. But I do not think that this bra is a replacement for well-fitting lingerie. When I want to look my best I am going to fall back onto my high quality, underwire bras.

***Do not think that because this bra is $20 that people on a budget should settle for the Ahh Bra, or other cheapie bras without a fitting. You can get a bra fitting at the Bay even for a $30 box bra to find something that fits you best.

yes it doesn't really live up to the hype. Better to invest a few more dollars into a well fitted bra!
