Everlane Weekender Review

everlane weekender review

I have been eyeing the Everlane Weekender ever since the company launched. I love the shape and the minimalist look. I recently used it as a carry on for our trip to Mexico and was pleasantly surprised how well it worked. I had honestly thought I would get more use out of it for car trips to the cottage and that it might be too big for a flight. I was so wrong. This is my Everlane Weekender Review.

Everlane Weekender Review:

What drew we to this weekender was the over all aesthetic. It had a clean minimal design and was neither overly feminine nor too masculine.

The bag is made with water resistant non slub cotton twill. The handles are leather and there are gunmetal feet on the bottom to avoid wear and tear from lots of use.

There is one outer pocket one one of the ends. This pocket is quite deep and can easily fit an e-reader or passport and more.

There is also one internal zip pocket.

The only thing I think this is missing for frequent travelers is one of those straps that allows this to attach to the handle of a rolling suitcase. That said I sat this bag on top of my rolling suitcase (I used the the handles of the bag to wrap around the retractable handle of the suitcase) and I didn’t have any slippage while I was walking. I think the shape of the bag makes it sit nicely without moving around too much.

The straps are nice and long and easily fit over your shoulder, but not cross body. I will say that a cross body strap wouldn’t make this bag better as when a bag is this large I don’t find it is overly comfortable to carry across the body, it works better over the shoulders.

The straps are also not too long so that if you simply hold it in your hands that it would then drag across the ground.

The Everlane Weekender is advertised as fitting into overhead compartments, which is true but it also easily stores under the seat in front of you which is my preferred storage solution when flying as you have more easy access to your information.

Originally, before I had actually tested it out, I had assumed that this bag was too big to be a carry on. Mostly because I check a suitcase when we go away for a week and my carry on is just my identification, some reading material and my in case outfits.

But after flying with this bag the only instance I felt it was a bit too large was when I was walking down the aisle to my seat on the plane. But I generally feel this with most of my bags because no one is really sitting in their seats everyone is half out in the aisles trying to get organized so any luggage seems to get in the way.

If you are a minimalist packer you would easily be able to use the Everlane Weekender as your main luggage for a 4 day trip. If you are re-wearing closes 7 days could work too.

The style I have shown above seems to have been replaced by the dipped bags, but I love the premium leather version too.
