Everlane Modern Point Review

everlane modern point review

After a rousing success with my Everlane Modern Loafers (see my review here), I thought I would try out the Everlane Modern Point. I especially liked the black and white two tone option as they are a less expensive version of some high end designer loafers that I had seen from Celine.

I have had flats like this in the past and I get loads of wear. What I didn’t like about my previous pair was that they were lined with pleather and that meant they were sweaty and didn’t give. I found my Ann Taylor version to be uncomfortable in the heat of summer. I felt for the price they were a huge disappointment.

Everlane Modern Point Review

everlane modern point reviewThe EVERLANE Modern Point however is lined with leather just like their loafers. The end result is a much more luxurious shoe that feels supple and soft and hugs your foot.

I will be honest my initial reaction to the Modern Point Flat was that I preferred the loafer. The Modern point is a lighter and less substantial shoe and doesn’t encase as much of the foot.

However after a few wears I decided my initial reaction was simply due to my loafers being more worn in and molded to my foot.

The Everlane Modern Point vs the Everlane Modern Loafer

The Modern Point flat is a daintier more feminine shoe. It pairs well with dresses as easily as it does with jeans or dress pants. There is less detail to the shoe, it is a smooth, flat leather. Also if you read the descriptions on the Everlane site you will see that they are made of different types of leather.

The Modern Loafer is heavier more menswear inspired. The sole of the loafer sort of over shoots the leather point and there is is a stitching detail which gives this shoe more visual interest. The leather is even heavier or thicker in feel. I feel like this shoe is more substantial.

Personally I think I would buy a second pair of the loafers before I buy a second pair of the modern point by Everlane. I just feel like the loafers fit my feet better. Perhaps because I have wider feet this is the case. That being said these are beautiful shoes that would easily cost $300 or more via a traditional retailer so I am happy that Everlane exists so I can get the quality I dream of at the price I can afford.

I did size up to an 8.5 where in other shoes I wear a 7.5 or 8. If you don’t size up a half a size from the larger of your usual sizes I feel like you will be sorry.

What do you think of the Everlane Modern Point review? Will you pick up a pair?

Thanks so much for this review. I am still tossing up between the loafers or the points. I'm leaning towards the points because they do look so nice and feminine. But the loafers look so good on you that I am now having second thoughts!

Hi Rin, I love the look of the Modern Point but I will be honest the loafers are so much more comfortable. I would be more likely to buy a second pair of the loafers rather than the modern point. Still I am glad to have both!
