While I can try on a sweater or a pair of pants and know right away they look fantastic or terrible, some things take some time to really know whether they work. Like creams and lotions, like a mascara, like home scents; these things take more than one chance to know if they really work for you and your home.
I was invited to test out the Lampe Berger system in my home. I was a bit apprehensive at first as someone who does not wear perfumes and is turned off by most of the plug in style air fresheners. Still I have seen these lamps around and wondered what all the fuss was about so I tried one in our home.
Lampe Berger has been around since the 1800’s and was developed in France as a way to purify the air in closed rooms. In the 1930’s perfumes were added to the process and even Coco Chanel was said to have a Lampe Berger.
So I tested it out. After it was lit and the flame extinguished I could smell the Lampe Berger scent throughout the main floor quite quickly. The scent didn’t travel to our upstairs levels but based on the size of our home that is to be expected. I should have probably moved it upstairs and restarted the process, or simply have two Lampe Bergers in the home.
So here is the rub. I did find the scent a bit strong. But on the flip side it did not give me a headache, so I think it was more because I am not used to the scents as opposed to it being irritating. I was using Fresh Linen, and I did like the clean freshness of the Lampe scent. I was told I can dilute the scents with the So Neutral scent or use it on its own which would allow me to neutralize odors without the perfume. I like the shape of the lampe, it fits in with our decor without standing out, but has a lovely feel about it on its own.
Still there are a number of limited edition holiday scents I am eagar to try as I LOVE candles with similar scents. Snowy Pines, Savoury Apple Tart both sound AMAZING and so Christmasy. If you know someone who has a Lampe Berger and are thinking of a gift these holiday scents would be a fantastic gift. Find a Lampe Berger Retailer near you.
Beauty Products I have finished
I haven’t done a beauty product round up in a while. Some of these products I have been meaning to talk about since the spring. So now that they are running low or I have already replaced them with more of the same I thought it was definitely time to share.
I have mentioned Toronto based Love Fresh a few times on the blog (here & here). I made a big order in the late winter/spring to refill our body butters and was given a few other products to try. The one that REALLY stood out was the Love Fresh Pear Scrub. I love this scent more than anything. Seriously if Lampe Berger had this scent my burner would be running 24/7. It is lovely.
But when I first started using this scrub I wasn’t sure how I was going to go through it all. I liked it to shluff off dry winter skin but didn’t find myself using it all the time until I started using it to shave my legs. OH cue the angles singing. It is perfect. First I rub it over my legs, especially my dry ankles to get rid of the dry skin. Then when it is the oils (ie the sugar part of the scrub has dissolved) I shave. BEST SHAVE EVER. Seriously you have to try it.
I also tried the natural deodorant. I am on the fence with this one. I like it because it does work, but the perfumes give me headaches so I can’t use it. I tried the Orange Patchouli one and I think the Patchouli is just too much for my senses.
More products I have tried or rather I have refilled. I am on my second tube of BB Straight. I love this product for a great at home blow dry. I found it a bit much as I was acclimatizing to the soft water here in KW but now that I seem to be used to it and have mastered the right amount again it is totally working for me to get good hair days every time.
I am on my second tube of Givenchy Le Rouge albeit a different slightly darker shade. I love the formulation, so luxurious. I will do a post on this lipstick on it’s own when I get my sh** together.
Ok so this mascara is a new try. Lancome Grandiose. It has a special neck that makes putting on mascara SUPER easy and I actually manage to get every lash. It took me a few uses to get the real GRAND lashes, I think I actually prefer Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara but I love the wand on the Grandiose.
I have a whole post to how awesome these Lush products are and how they work for my skin so I won’t get too much into it, except that I stopped using them for a bit (just too lazy to put an order through as I thought I would get to Toronto sooner than I have), and really noticed the difference. The Tea Tree water really keeps my skin under control. So it is a no brainer for me to have at all times.
What products have you tried lately? Have you tried any of the ones I have mentioned here?
Thanks to the people at Lampe Berger Canada for sending over a Lampe Berger for me to try in my home!
