Short Hair for Summer & Growing out Postpartum Hair Loss

The title of this most might be a bit confusing. Am I growing out my hair or did I get it cut? Well both really.

Lets start from the beginning. My son is now 9 months old. And while you are pregnant you don’t shed hair as much as you normally do.  There is a scientific reason, but basically due to your crazy hormones your hair cycle is screwed up.

So about 3 months after the baby comes your hair cycle speeds up again and you lose hair like crazy. Well I did anyways. It comes out in clumps in the shower. You fear you might go bald (you won’t) and think that you couldn’t possible shed any more hair (you will).

So where I ended up noticing all my breakage was at my temples and down the hairline along my face. At on point it looked like I had gotten a weird undercut done. At the same time I was trying to grow out a shorter layered cut I had got done when I was pregnant.

I ended up with hair that was a bit shapeless and overgrown, except in the spots with breakage. They had grown out to a point where they kind of stick up and are cowlick-y.

And so I now have a layered bob, you might even call it a lob (long bob) as my hair sits around or slightly longer than my shoulders. Its fresh and shorter for summer. I can still pull it back into a super short ponytail.

Plus as my funny postpartum hair grows back, it will have less catching up to do!
